Why this is needed

You Impact is a community minded program based on the power of the human story. was developed as a community program, meant to build a network of individuals who need support and guidance in their lives.  Each and every one of us makes up and impacts the community we are a part of, and programs to help foster positive change in our communities are extremely important.

YOU IMPACT provides an opportunity for DUI offenders to experience their own behaviors in a personal, visual and interactive multimedia experience. The stories presented in the YOU IMPACT program are real, from the heart and deeply moving. Each story begins a ripple effect into our communities, which cries out for action. MDA provides an interactive process in which offenders are given the tools and activities needed to help them bring about cathartic change in their lives.

About one-third of all drivers arrested or convicted of driving while intoxicated or driving under the influence of alcohol are repeat offenders. However, with YOU IMPACT, you can take the steps necessary to bring about positive change not only in your own life, but within others. YOU IMPACT is a program grounded in the philosophy of pay-it-forward; it involves teaching the offender to become a teacher himself or herself. Statistics strongly indicate that offenders are far more successful at bringing about positive change in their own lives when they feel an active part of their community.

The objective of YOU IMPACT is to create opportunities for offenders to replace their behaviors with community-based action steps. Change is accomplished when the offender takes steps within their own community to reduce the effects of DUI.

The Ripple Effect
